Challenges:
Odours pollution
Pests like cockroaches, ants, houseflies, etc.,
Carbon Dioxide and Methane Emission
Water Conservation & Resilience
Waste Management & Circular Economy
Health, Safety & Wellness in Buildings
Low Cost
Our CRC+ is able to meet the 7 points of challenges and focus on eliminating odours and pests for liveability.
Solving Pains and Liveability
Singapore is regarded as one of the world's cleanest cities, but our rubbish stinks and are infested with pests. The high-rise residential buildings are built with refuse chutes. Our number 1 problem is that residents do not segregate their waste and throw all the garbage into the rubbish chutes including food waste, therefore it stinks. The odours and food waste attracts disease-carrying pests like cockroaches, ants and houseflies.
Food waste constitutes 10% of total Carbon emissions, one tonne of food waste produces 5 tons of CO2 and along with it are Methane and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and pollutes the living environment. Regardless of the rubbish chute design in your Condos, odours and pests are expected with the garbage chute systems. Residents living near chutes suffered from odours and pests, and complained with no solution. Dropped in value when selling, no buyer or rentee will be interested in a property near a rubbish chute or bin centre.
Long-term exposure to VOC would affect the health, especially the cleaners.
Waste Disposal before 1989: Individual Refuse Collection System (IRCS)
High-rise apartments use the Individual Refuse Collection System (IRCS) for waste disposal. Each unit has a refuse chute hopper in the kitchen, allowing residents to throw their rubbish down the individual refuse chutes into the collection black bin on the ground floor. The black bin is almost never washed and is contaminated by odorous bacteria.
If collected from the basement carpark, the badly ventilated carpark is badly polluted with the odours, not a good experience to fetch the car every morning.
The trash is manually collected daily and openly transported to the bin centre to be removed by the public waste collectors. This is a labour-intensive process with an open nature that carries a risk of waste spillage, which can cause odour, sanitary, and pest problems. The chutes are equipped with a flushing system by legislation, 400-500 litres of water is flushed on manual activation. But water by itself cannot kill odorous bacteria and pests, wasting valuable resources for nothing. We are able to cut down water usage by 50%.
Weekly fumigations are required, putting tonnes of chemicals into the environment, the cockroaches are still thriving and grew resistant to the very chemicals that are used to kill them. There’s no effective and sustainable method to solve pest problems.
Complaints of residents
Our methods of waste disposal may have improved over the years, but not the habit of throwing everything into the chutes, users have to hold their breath to open the hopper and look out for cockroaches crawling out. A frightening experience for some. Our way of life for years and we took things for granted. In estate management, the number 1 complaint is cockroaches and number 2 is odours.
Using Nature to fight nature
We have invented a dispensing system to be installed at the rooftop over the solenoid valve, we named it CRC Plus - an add-on, plug and spray. No rework is required using existing infrastructures like electricity points and water flushing pipes. Designed with IoT, it can automatically dispense with schedule settings. With 2 solutions to solve various liveability challenges like odours and pests
Solution 1 – Multi Microbial Deodorant (MMD)
Deodourisation – eliminating odours
Detoxification – kills odorous and harmful bacteria
Solution 2 –Alkaline Degreaser (Special formulation)
Detergent – helps in cleaning the internal circular tube or wall,
Repellent – acts as an insect repellent and kills within the chutes like cockroaches, mosquitoes, houseflies and ants. Vermin will avoid too.
Fragrance – Lemon grass scented repels pests
There are the upfront costs of a dispenser (CRC+) and installation as CAPEX. We will offer a rental service model to lessen the parts and maintenance ownership issues. The key to this service is the 2 solutions as consumables.
